This first day of Black History month, we’re proud to honor the incredible athletic feats and society-shaping excellence of the Black Fives era. In the first half of the 20th Century the sport of basketball, like American society, was segregated. Independent Black teams played throughout the nation in a well-organized, barnstorming circuit that helped produce teams like the New York Renaissance, arguably the most successful basketball team of all time. |
